摘要: Abstract The compact city paradigm claims to result in a better urban quality of life (UQoL). However, does it also resonate for cities that are already (i.e., highly dense)? This study empirically assesses the degree association between form (UF) and UQoL at neighbourhood scale case Kolkata, an expanding, high-density India. Two UF metrics, Compactness Index (COMPI) Mix-Use (MUI), which based on model, constructed classify into prototypes vs dispersed forms. A multivariate exploratory analysis followed by Cluster Enrichment (CE) was applied decadal census, amenities air data 2001 estimate dimensions patterns objective UQoL. Logistic regression adjusted ‘socio-economic cultural status’ (SECS) assess likelihood associations derived results show have significant with higher but is sensitive growing strengths socio-economic status. Moreover, as grows, relationship becomes skewed. evidence suggests policy like Kolkata potential achieve provided there balanced growth policy.
