摘要: Publisher Summary Glial cells are conspicuous components of most invertebrate and all vertebrate nervous systems. Possible functions attributed to neuroglia, apart from their supportive role, include metabolic interactions with neurones, transmitter synthesis inactivation, homeostatic control the chemical composition brain microenvironment. The chapter reviews current state knowledge neuroglia in largest animal groups, which exhibits relatively wide differences structural functional organization glial elements. also discusses some determined attributes arthropod glia each other nerve they ensheath.
