Synthesis and characterization of cellulose whiskers/polymer nanocomposite dispersion by mini-emulsion polymerization

摘要: Stable film-forming nanocomposite particles with diameters ranging from 120 to 300 nm, based on polybutylmethacrylate (PBMA) and cellulose whiskers in water dispersions, were successfully synthesized one step through mini-emulsion polymerization. The dispersion a solid content of 25 wt.% up 5 nanofiller loading was prepared by situ polymerization, the presence using dodecylpyridinium chloride (DPC), as cationic surfactant, 2,2-azobis(isobutyronitrile) (AIBN), initiator. electrostatic interaction between positively charged droplets negatively ensured anchoring around polymer particles. ensuing dispersions characterized Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), ζ-Potential Measurements, Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM). After film formation process, exhibits high transparency, denoting good throughout matrix.
