摘要: The antineoplastic activity of a plant powder used in African traditional medicine for treating cancer was investigated by analyzing the various extracts vitro. most active, aqueous extract subsequently subjected to detailed investigation panel 17 tumor cell lines, showing an average IC50 49 mg raw powder/ml medium. sensitivity lines varied two orders magnitude, from 1.7 mg/ml MCF7 breast cells 170 AR230 chronic-myeloid leukemia cells. Immortalized, non-tumorigenic showed marginal sensitivity. In addition, kinetic and recovery experiments performed U87-MG comparison with miltefosine, gemcitabine, cisplatinum MCF7, U87-MG, HEp2, SAOS2 revealed no obvious similarity between profiles three standard agents, suggesting different mechanism cytotoxicity. vivo antitumor determined CC531 colorectal rat model. Significant anticancer found following administration equitoxic doses 100 (perorally) 5 (intraperitoneally) powder/kg, indicating 95% reduced intestinal absorption. By sequencing mitochondrial gene large subunit ribulose bis-phosphate carboxylase (rbcL) DNA material, source identified as Ximenia americana. A physicochemical characterization that active component(s) material are proteins galactose affinity. Moreover, mass spectrometry, one these shown contain stretch 11 amino acids identical tryptic peptide ribosome-inactivating protein ricin.
