Melt compounding of syndiotactic polypropylene nanocomposites containing organophilic layered silicates and in situ formed core/shell nanoparticles

摘要: Abstract Syndiotactic polypropylene (sPP) compounds containing organophilic layered silicates were prepared by means of melt extrusion at 220 °C using a corotating twin screw extruder in order to examine the influence silicate modification and addition maleic-anhydride-grafted isotactic (iPP-g-MA) as compatibilizer on morphology development mechanical properties. Synthetic sodium fluoromica was used water-swellable silicate, which rendered cation exchange with protonated octadecylamine. Only compounding modified conjunction iPP-g-MA afforded exfoliation dispersion individual layers, encapsulated an shell, within matrix. Interlayer distance increased increasing content molecular weight compatibilizer. The Young's modulus nanocomposite fivefold from 490 2640 MPa. This attributed nanoreinforcement nucleation sPP crystallization via shell dispersed nanoparticles. yield stress 29 MPa respect 16 MPa for bulk sPP.
