Carcinoma of the trachea. Clinicopathologic study of 41 cases

摘要: During a period of 33 years, 41 patients with primary carcinoma the trachea were treated at Memorial and James Ewing Hospitals. Thirty these had epidermoid carcinoma, 7 adenoid cystic 4 mucus-secreting adenocarcinoma. In view cryptic symptomatology, tracheal must be considered in differential diagnosis chronic cough, hemoptysis, negative chest roentgenogram. The prognosis appears to depend mainly upon size histologic type tumor. adenocarcinoma grave. Less than 25 percent survived one year or longer. Adenoid carried much better prognosis, however. These tumors have slow insidious course, usually recur, metastasize several years after initial treatment. Small can either by endoscopic excision partial resection trachea. case extensive localized disease, combination surgery irradiation is treatment choice.
