摘要: PURPOSE: To evaluate the use of ultrasound (US) pituitary gland during transsphenoidal surgery as a means detecting microadenomas in patients with Cushing disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirteen disease and one acromegaly underwent US surgery. Mechanically oscillating transducers (10 MHz [n = 8] or 15 6]) mounted on 15-cm-long probe were used. RESULTS: Seven adenomas definitely visualized, two poorly seen, four overlooked. Small tumors (< 5 mm diameter) tended to be hypoechoic; larger ones, hyperechoic. All overlooked imaged 15-MHz transducer. The cavernous sinuses internal carotid arteries could but minimal invasion medial wall sinus not. CONCLUSION: Pituitary can detected US; however, evaluation series instrumentation developed specifically for application will necessary...
