摘要: Allergic reactions are the most commonly reported adverse events after administration of antivenoms. Conventional horse serum-based crotalid antivenom used in United States (Antivenin [Crotalidae] polyvalent) can lead to both immediate and delayed hypersensitivity reactions. Crotalidae polyvalent immune Fab (ovine) (CroFab; FabAV) has recently been approved for use States. Experience from premarketing trials this product other types Fab, such as digoxin poisoning, demonstrated these fragments be safe effective, with a low incidence sequella; however, allergic occur when any animal-protein derivatives administered human subjects. We report detail nature course that occurred 4 patients treated FabAV. Cases anaphylaxis, acute urticaria, angioedema, serum sickness described. All were easily some combination antihistamines, epinephrine, steroids, prompt resolution signs symptoms enabling further dosing required. Several cases may have resulted batches contaminated Fc fragments. The overall appears so far lower than conventional whole-immunoglobulin G (IgG) antivenom, but postmarketing surveillance is warranted.
