Effect of Thermal Damage and Biaxial Loading on the Optical Properties of a Collagenous Tissue

摘要: Thermal denaturation can induce marked changes in the optical and mechanical properties of collagenous tissues. The are important both therapeutic diagnostic applications lasers medicine. Although stress be caused by collagen shrinkage laser-based therapies, how loading state affects is not well understood. We used a new computer-controlled biaxial testing system to subject bovine epicardium various conditions before after multiple levels thermal damage. An integrating sphere technique was measure transmittance diffuse reflectance, from which absorption scattering coefficients were calculated using Monte Carlo method. Results showed that coefficient increased with increasing load but decreased as degree damage increased. There no significant change due over ranges studied.
