Sleep Architecture and REM Sleep Measures in Prepubertal Children With Major Depression

摘要: • We performed a three-night polysomnographic study of 54 rigorously assessed, drug free, prepubertal children who fit unmodified Research Diagnostic Criteria for major depressive disorder, and two groups nondepressed controls (25 with emotional disorders 11 were normal). The did not differ polysomnographically, even though high proportion depressives neurotics reported sleep disturbance in structured interviews. Sleep stage data do appear to differentiate from neurotic or normal children. Other psychobiologic findings together marked age effects on correlates adult suggest the hypothesis that abnormalities are secondary an interaction between depression age.
