摘要: Abstract Seven new cardenolides, staudtianoside A−F (1−6) and staudtianogenin A (8), were isolated along with six known compounds from the stem bark of Cameroonian medicinal plant Salacia staudtiana Loes. ex Fritsch. The structures elucidated by means ESI-HRMS NMR spectroscopic methods comparison literature data. relative configurations determined X-ray diffraction analysis, NOESY correlation coupling constants. We evaluated antibacterial efficacy against two commonly dispersed environmental strains Escherichia coli Bacillus subtilis, as well human pathogenic clinical Staphylococcus aureus Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Compounds 1, 2 8 exhibited marked potencies clinically relevant P. aeruginosa that comparable to standard antibiotics. Compound was also active S. E. coli. Further, 5 demonstrated B. subtilis. structure-activity relationship tested is discussed.
