Recent advances in the preparation of semiconductors as isolated nanometric particles: new routes to quantum dots

摘要: Nanoparticles of semiconductor materials have been the subject intense research in last five years owing to novel electronic, catalytical and optical properties observed such materials. The unusual these so called quantum dots can be attributed two main factors: large surface volume ratio atoms confinement charge carriers a ‘quantum mechanical box’. Small particles semiconductors prepared by number routes, often using colloidal chemistry methods but more recently organometallic routes. recent advances resulted high quality nanoparticles which incorporated into simple devices. In this article we cover some key preparation nanometric semiconductors. illustration depicts three sizes TOPO capped CdSe.
