摘要: Seeds of many species behave in a ‘non-orthodox’ manner and have been variously categorized as sub-orthodox, intermediate or recalcitrant. Those some recorded showing anomalous behaviour their being placed more than one these categories. Individual seed may, fact, be assigned to point on behavioural continuum subtended by the extremes orthodoxy recalcitrance. The nature recalcitrance is discussed terms two components, desiccation sensitivity post-harvest behaviour. Both components differ among species, seeds any may show variability within between seasons. Developmental stage tissue water status influence both considerable variation individual inter- intra-seasonally. This extent, contribute supposedly Storage lifespan also affected seed-associated mycoflora. Practical problems associated with short-term storage hydrated recalcitrant seeds, possibility cryopreservation for long-term are important issues.
