摘要: High-performance computing clusters (commodity hardware with low-latency, high-bandwidth interconnects) based on Linux are rapidly becoming the dominant platform for a wide range of scientific disciplines. Yet, straightforward software installation, maintenance, and health monitoring large-scale has been consistent nagging problem non-cluster experts. The NPACI Rocks distribution takes fresh perspective management installation to dramatically simplify version tracking cluster integration. NPACI incorporates latest Red Hat (including security patches) additional cluster-specific software. Using identical tools used create base distribution, users can customize localize their site. Strong adherence widely-used (de facto) allows move rapid pace development. Version 2.2.1 toolkit is available download installation. Over 100 have built by experts at multiple institutions (residing in various countries) providing peak aggregate 2 TFLOPS clustered computing. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
