摘要: Bird song varies both between species and across geographic areas, there is abundant evidence from playback experiments that male female birds are sensitive to these differences in structure. Comparisons the sexes complicated by behavioral assays used for each sex: males often tested field, i.e. a natural setting, females usually laboratory with hormone treatment. We performed field experiment white-crowned sparrows on their territories see if they made similar distinctions songs. After we temporarily removed females' mates territories, approached called significantly more response of conspecific than heterospecific song. Females gave same responses local dialect as did songs containing phrases foreign dialect. In contrast, weaker phrase discuss reasons why our results conflict previous studies found selective responding males.
