摘要: Separating oil and water from oil-in-water or water-in-oil systems is immensely important. Such separation typically achieved through specially fabricated surfaces that demonstrate distinct differences in wettability between the specified oil; other words, these are either hydrophobic–oleophilic hydrophilic–oleophobic. While this difference sufficient to trigger – has been fundamental basis of preparing all meant for oil–water spontaneity process not a single-valued function difference. Considering free energy change associated with as an indicator extent separation, we show additionally dictated by interfacial tension. More intriguingly our analysis establishes surface, more spontaneous than systems, whereas hydrophilic–oleophobic surface less systems.
