摘要: We report measurements of the temperature variations flexoelastic ratio (e1−e3)/K octadecyl cyanobiphenyl and a mixture this compound with another one bent-core (BC) molecules, using hybrid aligned nematic cells. Addition 5 mol % BC doubles ratio, implying that has ∼20 times larger value compared to calamitic molecules. Mixtures >11 mol % exhibit only homeotropic alignment. develop simple model account for result which arises because large positive self-energy due flexoelectric polarization.
