摘要: Understanding the biodegradation potential of river bacterioplankton communities is crucial for watershed management. We investigated shifts in metabolic profiles along salinity gradient Caloosahatchee River Estuary, Florida. The carbon source utilization patterns were determined by using Biolog EcoPlates. number utilized substrates was generally high upstream freshwater dominated zone and low downstream zone, suggesting a shift among assemblages estuarine gradient. prokaryotic cell numbers also decreased Seasonal site-specific differences found substrates, which similar summer fall (wet season) winter spring (dry season). Bacterioplankton showed more versatile substrate than those communities. Therefore, our data suggest that microbial subtropical estuary are likely influenced water discharge created dry wet seasons
