摘要: Radiation necrosis is a well described complication after radiosurgical treatment of intracranial pathologies - best recognized the patients with arteriovenous malformations and brain metastases but possibly also affecting treated radiosurgery for meningioma. The pathophysiology radiation still not understood most likely secondary local tissue inflammatory response to injured by radiation. in may present radiographically behave clinically like recurrent tumor. Differentiation between tumor has been difficult based on radiographic changes alone. Biopsy or craniotomy therefore remains gold standard method diagnosis. For symptomatic patients, corticosteroids are first-line therapy, fail medical management due intolerance chronic steroids persistence symptoms. In these cases, open surgical resection shown be successful surgically amenable lesions suboptimal deep-seated extensive prior cranial history, both carrying high risk peri-operative morbidity. Laser interstitial thermal therapy emerged as viable, alternative option. addition allowing access diagnosis, lesion can delivered precisely accurately under real-time imaging guidance. This review highlights pertinent studies that have shaped impetus use laser necrosis, reviewing indications, outcomes, nuances toward application this technology suspected necrosis.
