Prognosis in peritonitis complicating severe amoebic dysentery

摘要: Abstract A study of 75 patients with generalized peritonitis complicating severe amoebic dysentery and treated conservatively, showed an overall fatality rate 41%. Apart from age, accuracy diagnosis method treatment, prognosis depends on whether or not the develops before after admission to hospital. Among those who had a characteristic slow onset in hospital was 12·5%, but all 4 rapid died. 5 44 survivors progressed ulcerative post-dysenteric colitis were found have colonic strictures. All ultimately became free symptoms.
