摘要: UNLABELLED Paravertebral blockade (PVB) has been advocated as a useful technique for breast surgery. We prospectively compared the efficacy of PVB via catheter with general anesthesia (GA) minor Thirty patients were randomized into two groups to receive either or GA. Variables postoperative pain measured on visual analog scale, nausea and vomiting (PONV), recovery time, patient satisfaction. Postoperative scale scores in group significantly lower early period (maximum, 12 vs 45 mm; P < 0.01). In both groups, PONV was nearly absent. There no difference time. Patient satisfaction better (2.8 2.3; 0-3; one inadvertent epidural block pleural puncture group. Although resulted relief, advantages over GA marginal this because relatively mild incidence small. Considering that certain complication rate, we conclude at present risk/benefit ratio does not favor routine use IMPLICATIONS This study confirms previously reported superior relief after paravertebral However, considering therefore limited advantage these patients,
