Massive splenomegaly in children: laparoscopic versus open splenectomy.

摘要: BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Laparoscopic splenectomy for massive splenomegaly is still a controversial procedure as compared with open splenectomy. We aimed to compare the feasibility of laparoscopic versus from different surgical aspects in children. METHODS The data children aged <12 years who underwent hematologic disorders were retrospectively reviewed 2 pediatric surgery centers June 2004 until July 2012. RESULTS study included 32 patients, 12 20 mean ages 8.5 and 8 group group, respectively. operative time was 180 minutes 120 conversion rate 8%. amount intraoperative blood loss 60 mL 110 group. Postoperative atelectasis developed cases (10%) 1 case (8%). Oral feeding postoperatively resumed at 7.5 hours 30 hospital stay 36 96 pain less CONCLUSION safe feasible. Although significantly greater associated statistically pain, loss, better recovery, shorter stay. should be gold-standard approach regardless size spleen.
