摘要: Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are combustion-related pollutants and ubiquitous in the environment, including sources of drinking water. Upon contact with DNA, stable PAH–DNA adducts form rapidly as first step towards their toxic effects. In this work, we prepared hydrophilic DNA nanogels to exploit generic complexation process a biomimetic scavenging method. This approach relies on interaction between PAHs complete network that constitutes water-swollen nanogels, is not restricted interfacial adsorption. Up 720 μg PAH per gram nanogel taken up, meaning 1 mg sufficient purify liter water containing critical concentration for cancer risk (600 ng L−1). As result short diffusion pathways, uptake rapid, reaching 50 % loading after 15 minutes. Beyond PAHs, may be useful detoxification genotoxins, since most known molecules strongly associate mutagenic.
