Proton energy straggling measurements in aluminum, titanium, silver and tungsten foils

摘要: Abstract Measurements of the transmitted energy straggling are made using a silicon surface barrier detector for 2 to 7 MeV protons incident on thin foil targets Al, Ti, Ag and W. The widths studied as function target thickness, proton species. combination several energies with many thicknesses provides data investigation in region where Tschalar's theory is applicable. theoretical estimates found agree measured values higher beams, but about 10% lower than energies. A simple empirical expression given which agrees experimental losses up 60%.
