RAY EFFECT AND FALSE SCATTERING IN THE DISCRETE ORDINATES METHOD

摘要: A discussion on the ray effect and false scattering occurring in discrete ordinates solution of radiative transfer equation is presented this article. Ray arises from approximation a continuously varying angular nature radiation by specified set directions. It independent spatial discretization practice. False scattering, other hand, consequence practice In multidimensional computations, when beam not aligned with grid line, smears intensity field. reduces appearance unwanted bumps, but does eliminate effect. An inappropriate view also presented. Four sample problems are used to explain these two effects.
