摘要: The feasibility of increasing N rates on forage grasses, brought about by low cost commercial fertilizer, has focused attention toward the effects high levels grass development and production hazard ground water pollution where applied is not completely utilized forage. A 3-year study was initiated to investigate fertilization carryover dry matter yield percent in orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.) determine rate that would give minimal problems. treatments, O, 84, 168, 336, 672, 1344 kg/ha/year were for 2 years previous experiment. With initiation study, plots split, half receiving treatment no fertilization. Dry found increase up 336 kg/ha N. At higher rates, yields leveled off or declined, apparently due stand reduction. Nitrogen also increased total content orchardgrass. Response first year residual as measured yield, at greater than 84 kg/ha. during second observed only 672 third study. affected two highest rates. Over a 5-year period, application equaled removal 246 Above this rate, observed. This indicates Crosby silt loam soil, approximately 250 should be per central Indiana.
