摘要: The cow-calf (Bos taurus) industry in subtropical United States and other parts of the world that depends almost totally on grazed pastures is facing several production constraints like changing climatic conditions increasing cost fertilizers, especially nitrogen (N). Particularly little known about response forage species to combined effect water-logging addition N. A two-year greenhouse study was conducted 2008 2009 determine i) flooding duration N recovery agronomic efficiency bahiagrass (Paspalum notatum Fluegge) compared with two tolerant forages, limpograss (Hemarthria altissima Poir), maidencane (Panicum hematomon Schult) ii) if fertilization could mitigate negative flooding. Nitrogen varied significantly (P ≤ 0.001) among species. Averaged across levels N, reduced by 41% 56%, respectively after 84 d continued while slightly increase 5% between 0 Agronomic efficiencies (41% 26%) (44% 31%) were increased from 24% (no flooding) 46% at However, three positively affected fertilization. overall bahiagrass, limpograss, ranged 44% 59%. improve under waterlogged condition.
