Immobilization of Prototheca zopfü in calcium-alginate beads for the degradation of hydrocarbons

摘要: Abstract A petroleum-degrading achlorophyllous micro-alga, Prototheca zopfu , was immobilized in calcium-alginate beads and the rate of degradation for n -alkanes (C 14 C 15 16 ) measured. The biodegradation hydrocarbon mixture could be described by a second-order expression which is function both population algal cells substrate concentration. volumetric rates observed free were comparable to those reported other systems marine micro-organisms, such as Bacillus sp. Pseudomonas modified bacterial adherence assay revealed strong hydrophobicity outermost surface cells. Repeated cycles subculture carried out stability confirmed.
