摘要: While there is a large body of preclinical data on the use viral vectors in gene transfer, relatively little known about transfer gastrointestinal tract. Viral vector technology especially underused field neurogastroenterology when compared to brain research. This review provides an overview studies employing vectors—in particular retroviruses, adenoviruses and adeno-associated viruses—to transduce different cell types intestine. Early work mainly focused mucosal transduction, but had limited success due harsh luminal conditions tract high turnover rate enterocytes. More recently, several have successfully employed target enteric nervous system its progenitors. Although hurdles still need be overcome, how augment transduction efficiency specific targeting, holds strong potential not only as valid research tool fundamental gastroenterological also therapeutic agent translational (bio)medical
