摘要: Abstract Background Age, gender and systemic diseases all influence cardiac function remodelling. In cats, age associated myocardial remodelling the effect of on myocardium have so far not been studied. The aim study was therefore to investigate whether relevant cytokines extracellular matrix (ECM) enzymes are expressed in cats with non-cardiac transcription levels influenced by gender. Methods performed samples from 26 aged between 2 19 years that had died diseases. Seventeen were female (2 entire) nine male (1 entire). Of these, diagnosed unlikely affect (control cats). remaining 17 suffered likely effects. All hearts assessed for any pathological changes, analysed interleukin (IL)-1, -2, -4, -6, -18, tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interferon (IFN)-γ, transforming growth (TGF)-β, metalloproteinase (MMP)-2, -3, -13, tissue inhibitor MMP (TIMP)-1, -2 -3 transcriptions using quantitative RT-PCR assays. Results Despite absence histological evidence damage, inflammation fibrosis, found constitutively transcribe ECM enzymes, generally higher mRNA concentrations atria than ventricles. young exhibited throughout comparison older cats. Furthermore, age-associated pattern differed Conclusion constitutive suggests continuous entire life a cat. appears be pro-inflammatory state, whereas exhibits reduced inflammatory reaction disease.
