摘要: Mating causes dramatic changes in female insects at the behavioural, physiological and molecular level. The factors driving these (e.g. seminal proteins, volume) pathways by which are operating have been characterized only a handful of insect species. In present study, we use instrumental insemination honey bee queens to examine role substance volume triggering post-mating changes. We also differences gene expression patterns fat bodies with highly activated ovaries determine if events during copulation can cause long-term expression. found that procedure alone caused cessation mating flights triggered ovary activation, high-volume inseminated having greatest activation. Hierarchical clustering grouped primarily then volume, suggesting while may trigger short-term (i.e. activation) plays greater regulating transcriptional results ontology analysis comparison previous studies suggest both altering overlapping involved reproduction. discuss effects on two genes (vitellogenin transferrin) reproduction defence responses.
