摘要: The present study aimed to assess the sediment quality in a tropical estuary located northeast of Brazil under semi-arid conditions and multiple sources contamination, using both toxicity bioassays metal distribution. distribution followed concentration gradient decreasing one order magnitude from inner station toward outer estuary, with amounts following order: Fe > Al > Zn > Cr > Pb > Cu. index geoaccumulation indicated enrichment Ceara river sediment, mainly at sites, considered moderately strongly contaminated by Al, Cu, Cr Zn. Sediment samples were toxic means whole tests copepods (reproduction) amphipods (survival), also elutriate fraction sediment–water interface sea urchin embryos (development). Acute chronic did not exhibit significant correlation metals, emphasizing influence other contaminants related pollution installed mid-estuary.
