Pressure generation in a 6-8-2 type multi-anvil system: a performance test for third-stage anvils with various diamonds

摘要: We developed a 6-8-2 cell for multi-anvil apparatus, where pair of diamond rods are used as pressure intensifier. tested single crystal (SCD), conventional sintered (SD), and nano-polycrystalline (NPD) the third-stage anvils system. In situ X-ray diffraction experiments were conducted to test performance present cell, generation ∼ 90 GPa was confirmed at press load 700 tons room temperature, regardless difference in anvil material. Upon heating sample, however, substantially dropped with increasing temperature>800 K when SCD SD anvils, ultimately decreased 20–30 GPa 1400 K due significant plastic deformation anvils. contrast, pressures 80–90 GPa maintained temperatures up 1250 K NPD used.
