The use of silicone oil following failed vitrectomy for retinal detachment with advanced proliferative vitreoretinopathy.

摘要: We have used silicone oil injection in a consecutive series of 44 patients with retinal detachment and advanced proliferative vitreoretinopathy, all whom had previously failed to reattach vitrectomy, membrane peeling, scleral buckling. After minimal follow-up period six months, complete anatomic reattachment posterior the encircling buckle was obtained 64% these eyes, visual acuity 5/200 or better achieved 57% anatomically successful cases. Silicone removal performed 69% visually eyes without recurrent detachment.
