Recombinant human transferrin: beyond iron binding and transport.

摘要: Iron is indispensible for life and essential such processes as oxygen transport, electron transfer DNA synthesis. Transferrin (Tf) a ubiquitous protein with central role in iron transport metabolism. There evidence, however, that Tf has many other biological roles addition to its primary function of facilitating metabolism, profound effect on mammalian cell growth productivity. The multiple functions can be exploited develop novel applications. Indeed, over the past several years, considerable efforts have been directed towards exploring human serum (hTf), especially use recombinant native hTf fusion proteins, various applications within biotechnology medicine.
