摘要: Vegetation stripes (“tiger bush”) are a characteristic feature of semi-arid environments. The typically lie along the contours gentle slopes, and some authors report gradual uphill migration. A previous mathematical model (Klausmeier, Science, 284:1826, 1999) has shown that this phenomenon can be explained relatively simply by downhill flow rainwater coupled with diffusive spread plant population. This paper presents detailed analysis pattern formation in Klausmeier model. author derives formulae for wavelength migration speed predicted patterns, systematically investigates how these depend on parameters. results make new predictions suggest possible approaches to testing
