摘要: Pneumonia is the second most common nosocomial infection in United States and leading cause of death from infections. Intubation mechanical ventilation greatly increase risk bacterial pneumonia. Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) occurs a patient treated with ventilation, it neither present nor developing at time intubation; serious problem--with significant morbidity mortality rates. Aspiration bacteria oropharynx, leakage contaminated secretions around endotracheal tube, position, cross-contamination respiratory equipment health care providers are important factors development VAP. Nurses caring for patients must recognize include strategies reducing these as part their nursing care. This article summarizes literature related to VAP: its incidence, associated factors, diagnosis, current therapies, an emphasis on implications patients.
