Drugs and the periodontium

摘要: The periodontium and periodontal disease activity can be affected by systemic drug therapy. Many drugs have an adverse effect on the periodontium, i.e., gingival hyperplasia. Alternatively, some modify inflammatory immunological responses of tissues to bacterial plaque. aim this review is evaluate effects therapy activity, where possible, relate such changes pharmacodynamics considered. Drugs which been reported affect categorised as follows: anti-epileptics, immunosuppressants, corticosteroids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory hormones. Those whose are clearly established rate may provide information mechanisms destruction. Finally, drug-induced hyperplasia (overgrowth) discussed in relationship drugs' pharmacokinetics.
