摘要: Background: Chronic inflammation plays an important role in the development of cardiovascular risk factors. Although prevalence comorbidities and events has been described patients with psoriasis, few studies have examined subclinical atherosclerosis psoriasis patients. Objective: Our objective was to investigate atheroma plaques severe compared control subjects analyze association metabolic syndrome, homocysteine levels inflammatory parameters. Patients Methods: This case-control study included 133 patients, 72 61 controls consecutively admitted outpatient clinic Dermatology Departments (Granada, Spain.) Results: Carotid were observed 34.7% psoriatic versus 8.2% (p=0.001) syndrome diagnosed 40.3% 13.1% (p<0.001). Significantly higher mean values insulin, aldosterone, acute phase parameters (fibrinogen, D-dimer, C reactive protein erythrocyte sedimentation rate) found Binary logistic regression showed a strong between plaque after controlling for confounding variables. Limitations: The absence longitudinal quantification intima-media thickness Conclusion: chronic hyperhomocysteinemia may explain syndrome. Cardiovascular screening by criteria assessment carotid ultrasound be useful detect individuals at start preventive treatment against disease.
