Bio-feedback treatment of fecal incontinence: Where are we, and where are we going?

摘要: Fecal incontinence is a disabling disease, often observed in young subjects, that may have devastating psycho-social consequences. In the last years, numerous evidences been reported on efficacy of bio-feedback techniques for treatment this disorder. Overall, literature data claim success rate more than 70% cases short term. However, recent controlled trials not confirmed optimistic view, thus emphasizing role standard care. Nonetheless, many authors believe should be first therapeutic approach fecal due to efficacy, lack side-effects, and scarce invasiveness. Well-designed randomized, trial are eagerly awaited solve dilemma.
