摘要: Fecal incontinence is a socially disabling symptom for which rectosphincteric biofeedback has been reported to be dramatically effective. The most commonly employed procedure incorporates three separate and potentially effective components: (1) exercise of the external sphincter muscle, (2) training in discrimination rectal sensations, (3) synchrony internal responses. This paper reports results single case experiments with eight incontinent patients examine contributions each these components. All improved, but only one required as it was originally described. Three responded sensory training, synchronous sphincteric responses; recovered independently effects biofeedback. Despite achievement continence, reflexes following treatment continued abnormal every case. These findings suggest that character response distension an unreliable index function procedures are some cases fecal incontinence.
