摘要: PANTHER is a large collection of protein families that have been subdivided into functionally related subfamilies, using human expertise. These subfamilies model the divergence specific functions within families, allowing more accurate association with function (ontology terms and pathways), as well inference amino acids important for functional specificity. Hidden Markov models (HMMs) are built each family subfamily classifying additional sequences. The latest version, 5.0, contains 6683 divided 31,705 covering approximately 90% mammalian protein-coding genes. 5.0 includes number significant improvements over previous versions, most notably (i) representation pathways (primarily signaling pathways) individual sequences; (ii) an improved methodology defining building HMMs; (iii) resources scoring sequences against HMMs both web locally; (iv) new to facilitate analysis gene lists, including data generated from high-throughput expression experiments. Efforts underway add InterPro suite databases, make consistent PIRSF database. now publicly available without restriction at http://panther.appliedbiosystems.com.
