摘要: The embryo of the lettuce’ seed’ (which, strictly, is an achene), completely surrounded by endosperm comprised only two or three cell layers.1,2 These cells have thick walls,2 and acts as a barrier to germination, i.e. it imposes dormancy, when intact seed incubated in darkness at supra-optimal temperatures (ca. 25°C).
