摘要: Telomerase is a highly specialized reverse transcriptase and the maintenance of telomeric length determined by this specific enzyme. The human holoenzyme telomerase ribonucleoprotein composed catalytic subunit, hTERT, an RNA component, hTR, group associated proteins. normally expressed in embryonic cells repressed during adulthood. enzyme reexpressed around 85% solid tumors. This observation makes it potential target for developing drugs that could be developed therapeutic purposes. identification hTERT as functional prompted studies inhibiting with HIV inhibitor azidothymidine (AZT). Previously, we have demonstrated AZT binds preferentially to telomeres, inhibits enhances tumor cell senescence apoptosis after treatment breast mammary adenocarcinoma cells. Since then, several considered inhibition led clinical strategies anticancer therapy. review covers present thinking future protocols using drug.
