摘要: Cartilage repair is an ongoing medical challenge. Tissue engineered solutions to this problem rely on the availability of appropriately differentiated cells in sufficient numbers. This review discusses potential primary human articular chondrocytes and mesenchymal stem fulfil role. Chondrocytes have been transduced with a retrovirus containing transcription factor SOX9, which permits greatly improved response three-dimensional culture systems, growth stimulation hypoxic conditions. Human into using well-established methods, Notch signalling pathway has studied detail establish its role during process. Both approaches offer insights these vitro systems that are invaluable understanding designing future cartilage regeneration strategies.
