摘要: Abstract Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating of a series glaciofluvial/glaciodeltaic sediments in central Buchan and Aberdeen has recently been undertaken. The aims this project are to test the chronological model proposed by most recent regional review suggestion that parts may have remained ice-free during last glacial maximum (late marine isotope stage (MIS) 3 MIS 2 29–15 ka). preliminary results indicate Devensian (ca. 116–12 ka), extensive areas glaciated earlier than previously believed (possibly 4, 72–60 ka), but region show no depositional evidence later glaciation. Some waterlain from Ugie Valley yielded OSL ages indicating deposition 5d 5a (116–72 ka). We discuss whether absence overlying glaciogenic at these locations raises questions about reliability or existing models glaciation Buchan.
