ESR studies on the ripple phase in multilamellar phospholipid bilayers

摘要: The structure of the ripple phase in multilamellar DPPC liposomes was studied by measuring electron spin resonance (ESR) spectra stearic acid probe (16-SASL). spectrum observed P beta' is explained terms superposition ordered- and disordered-type spectra. This fact suggests existence a nonhomogeneous phase, i.e., coexistence ordered region present L disordered alpha phase. fluidity acyl chains both regions intensity ratio to total were estimated from ESR at various temperatures. did not exhibit remarkable temperature dependence.
