摘要: We provide a compact characterization of outage rates for wideband wireless communication system whose parameters are chosen to model an outdoor cellular downlink. The base station transmitter is equipped with antenna array, while the mobile receiver has single antenna. Our analysis quantifies effects frequency and spatial diversity measurement-based channel models available in literature. Design prescriptions based on our framework would apply, example, fourth-generation systems using orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing. information-theoretic computations yield following findings. Complex typically employed simulations can be replaced by simple, bandwidth-dependent, tap-delay-line without loss accuracy. spectral efficiency (i.e., achievable rate, divided bandwidth) well approximated as Gaussian random variable, so that it only necessary specify its mean variance order compute rates. analytical formulas function space-time model, verify resulting match closely simulation. For wide class channels, depends diversity, via product. definitions have physically motivated interpretations, do not rely high signal-to-noise ratio asymptotics, prior work.
