Gender Differences in the Distribution of Total Work-Time of Latin-American Families: The Importance of Social Norms

摘要: We analyze differences by gender in the time dedicated to total work (paid and unpaid) families Latin America, with particular attention effect of social norms. To this end, we use survey data on Mexico (2009), Peru (2010), Ecuador (2012) Colombia (2012), estimate differential equations through OLS. Our results reveal between countries terms distribution plus unpaid work), being more equitable. These two could be approaching a situation "iso-work", or equality work, sense that men women spend similar amounts work. When considering norms explain spent from last wave (2010-2014) World Values Survey (WVS). indicate egalitarian exhibit highest levels It is important know how these four distribute their order understand why there are clear gender.
