摘要: Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) is up-regulated in 85-90% of primary human colorectal cancers and a putative target for the chemopreventative activity non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. However, COX-2 expression by cancer liver metastases has been poorly characterized. We studied consecutive series 38 patients who underwent resection metastatic disease, whom long-term (up to 57 months), prospective follow-up data were available. Semi-quantitative immunohistochemistry was performed on 54 from 35 patients, adequate histological material Diffuse cytoplasmic staining protein detected cells 100% (COX-2 score 1, n=25; 2, n=29). There no relationship between metastasis size or differentiation grade level expression. difference cancer-free overall survival with high (score 2) low 1) scores (Kaplan–Meier analysis log rank test, both P=0.97). Multivariate Cox regression identified age, incomplete presence extra-hepatic disease as independent predictors disease-free following surgery. also localized subset stromal fibroblasts mononuclear within well hepatocytes specimens. expressed all which studied. Investigation effect selective inhibition growth cell proliferation/apoptosis vivo are warranted.
